Career of Riyan Parag as a Cricketer:
Riyan Parag, this young Indian cricketer is one of Assam’s brightest prospect. Riyan played into the Assam under-16 cricket team in 2013 at age of 12, and the under-19 cricket team at the age of 13 only.
He made his Twenty-20 debut for Assam in the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament on 29 January 2017. In October 2017 he was selected in India's squad for the 2017 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. He achieved his first-class debut for Assam in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on 17 November 2017.
In December 2017, he was selected in Indian cricket team for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. While Riyan was picked only for the ‘Youth Test’ leg of the tour to England, he showed that he had more than just a good leave and defence. He scored 68 and 50 in the first ‘Test’, the former coming off 137 balls, and the latter of just 33, creating a record for the fastest Youth Test half-century. He added another half-century in the next ‘Test’ as well.
Following that Riyan Parag came into the under-19 Challenger Trophy essentially a selection tournament for the World Cup. He responded with 207 runs in four innings, the standout being a century where he displayed excellent footwork against spin, and both timing and power against pace.
In December 2018, Riyan Parag was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the player auction for the 12th Indian Premier League i.e IPL 2019 at his base price of 20 lakhs.
